That Green Shawl

It had us stumped for a while, but it is now being reported that Kate was wearing a cashmere ruffle wrap from a little known American Brand (at least here in the UK!) Minnie Rose.

In the UK the brand only seems available at Donna Ida which happens to have a shop in Belgravia, one of Kates favourite shopping areas. In the US both Saks and Amazon are stockists. Although Kates wrap above is no longer available, we will certainly be keeping an eye out for Minnie Rose's Autumn/Winter collection!

*Update* several readers have noted that Kate's wrap may not be by Minnie Rose as was widely reported by the press. The Minnie Rose website is also not featuring Kate as part of their "media" section so I think we have to assume it is probably not a Minnie Rose (thanks Melissa for the heads up). Never the less we will keep our eyes peeled and hope that the designer of Kates wrap comes to light soon.

PS. If you are a knitter and want to knit your own Kate inspired wrap are selling the pattern to a Princess Kate Shawl for a very reasonable £3 ($5). Thank you Debbie for finding and sharing the pattern with us!

Shoes fit for a princess

French Sole/London Sole ballet pumps

An update on the French Sole ballet flats that Kate wore for her trip to Waitrose last week. They were the India style in brown moc-croc patent. According to the website the India:

"Suits a narrow to medium width fitting and has an elegant low vamp, which reveals a little toe cleavage, and has a quarter inch heel. An elegant and durable well-balanced ballet flat wardrobe essential."

If you like a little "toe cleavage" then the ballet flats are currently out of stock here.  In the US the brand trades under the name London Sole and surprise surprise they are also out of stock here. I suspect these will be back in stock shortly!

LK Bennett wedges

On Friday LK Bennett confirmed that the black wedges Kate wore both pre and post wedding were the Greta from their 2009 range and is sadly no longer available :-(

The good news is that the Greta is being relaunched this season as the Maddox in both Turquoise and Coral for £165.

Will keep you posted when they finally go on sale.

PS. no news on that gorgeous Green Shawl as soon as I get any news I will be sure to share!

Dress down at Waitrose - 5 May 2011

Taking her new role as the Housewife Duchess seriously Kate was spotted by The Daily Mail at her local Waitrose in Anglesey.

Sporting skinny black jeans, a cream v neck jumper and a green ruffled shawl it was nice to see Kate in "dress down" mode.

**UPDATE** According to the Daily Mail updated article Kate was wearing a pair of French Sole brown mock-croc ballet pumps (£92) and a pair of faded black Hudson skinny jeans (costing £195,  the brand is apparently her favourite).

She’s also wearing the same pair of Hope Egg earrings (by Links of London £275) that appeared in the couple’s official engagement photo taken by Mario Testino.

Mini-moon bound - 30 April 2011

As Kate and Wills headed  off for their mini-moon to an undisclosed location Kate looked ever radiant in a cornflour blue pleated dress from Zara's current collection which retails for the bargain price of £49.99 (paired with those staple black wedges from LK Bennett).

Needless to say by the time the mini-moon was over, the stock of Zara dresses had completely diminished. Heres hoping Zara manage to get some new stock in just in time for summer!

** The post-wedding dress - 29 April 2011 - Buckingham Palace**

After a brief siesta Kate returned to Buckingham Palace for the evening reception dressed in yet another Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress.

The strapless dress was made from ivory satin with what was reported to be a diamante belt detail around her waist. The angora cardigan perfectly complimented the stunning evening dress.

**The Wedding dress - 29 April 2011 - Westminster Abbey**

There are no words, which can justly describe Kates wedding dress it was truly fit for a Princes. Classic, elegant, sophisticated and utterly exquisite. As the whole world now knows "that dress" was designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen with much input from the bride herself!

The dress had to be "big" to fill the epic space that is Westminster Abbey, it also had to be modest. The current trend for strapless dresses is just not appropriate for the wedding of the future head of the Church of England!

The lace work was genius in preserving her "modesty" but also came across as very modern with the high collar and plunging v-neck.

According to the Official Royal Wedding site :

"The lace appliqué for the bodice and skirt was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework, based at Hampton Court Palace.  The lace design was hand-engineered (appliquéd) using the Carrickmacross lace-making technique, which originated in Ireland in the 1820s.  Individual flowers have been hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create a unique and organic design, which incorporates the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock."

Apparently the needleworkers had to wash their hands every 30 minutes to keep the lace and threads clean!

This is the dress that I suspect will redefine bridal fashion for the next decade!

The Mystery Dress - The Goring Hotel

Arriving at the five star Goring Hotel in Belgravia on the day before her wedding Kate looked amazing in a Navy print summer dress with black wedges.

The designer/make of the dress remains a mystery which is annoying since it is one of my favourite Kate outfits (if anyone knows who it is by please let me know!!). The black wedges are from LK Bennett and retail for £129.99 sadly they aren't available on the website. However, I have spotted these very similar wedges for half the price (£60) at Office!

Black Issa dress - Kings Road

Spotted just days before her wedding, Kate headed out onto the Kings Road to pick up some honeymoon essentials.

She wore a short sleeve Issa black dress costing £480 and tan kitten heels (she was last spotted wearing them 4 years ago). Thank you the Daily Mail for the update!!

You can shop the latest Issa looks here and here.
Loving the loose curls Miss M!

Blue suit - Lancashire

For her final official engagement up in Lancashire pre-wedding, an incredibly svelte looking Kate wore a blue Amanda Wakeley suit which perfectly complemented her engagement ring.

According to the Amanda Wakeley press release the suit was "vintage silk".

Amanda's latest designs can be found on her website here

The Burberry trench coat - Belfast

Once the brand every chav aspired too Burberry has undergone a quiet yet meticulous transformation (think Emma Watson) in recent years finally receiving the (almost) royal stamp of approval in March when Kate stepped out for a pancake toss in the Burberry trench coat.Kate wears it well and the ruffle hem brings a girly touch to what can often be a boring style of coat.

Part of the Spring/Summer 11 collection the Burberry trench coat retails for £650 and predictably is.....sold out......well it was, turns out the coat is back in stock!!! Bravo Burberry.

The herringbone coat and fascinator - Anglesey lifeboat

A blustery February day saw Kate and Will up in Anglesey christening a lifeboat!

Kate wore a fascinator by Wiltshire designer Vivien Sheriff a very close replica of the fascinator, the aptly named Katerina Sisal, is still for sale on Viviens website for £155

According to the Daily Mail the Herringbone coat was designed by Katherine Hooker and has been in Kate's wardrobe for over 5 years (its first outing was at the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2006). Costing £700 the coat has been shortened from a mid calf length to a more fashionable above the knee length. Bravo Kate for your Make, Do and (A)mend approach!

The red suit - St Andrews

In February 2011, Will and Kate went on their first official engagement back to St Andrews University where they first met. The red suit although not a favourite of mine was designed by Luisa Spagnoli an Italian designer. According to "herdaily" Kate purchased the suit from Hollie de Keyser in Knightsbridge.

Teamed with her staple black knee boots and black accessories Kate has turned what could be quite a frumpy suit into a sweet outfit. The devil is in the detail even her black leather gloves have a red lining!

The engagement photo dress

The official engagement photos take by Mario Testino show Kate wearing the "Nannette" dress by Reiss from their Autumn/Winter 09 collection which originally retailed for £159.

According to the Daily Mail The Nannette dress has 3/4 sleeves, an asymmetric draped neck line, paneled waist band and side pockets and an overlay on the front skirt.

Although Reiss did briefly re-release the the Nannette it obviously sold out very quickly! Quel suprise!

The Issa engagement dress

The £399 dress from Issa London designed by Brazilian designer Daniela "Issa" Helayel sold out within hours of the engagement announcement, it was stunning so no surprise there!

Copies are still available on the highstreet one of the most notable is from Chica and retails for €100 (£88)

If you prefer the designer version Issa's other dresses can be found here or here
